Bulk Inclusion with Yahoo and Google Sitemaps

One of the most common problems many large web sites have with rankings is that portions of their web sites are not included in the search engines.
The cause can be any of a variety of reasons that range from complicated URL strings to slow server response or lack of a proper internal linking structure. If Google can't find your pages, they won't get into the search results.
Search engines benefit from having as many good quality pages in their databases as possible because it improves user experience. Better user experience equals more traffic and that means more advertising revenue. As a result, several efforts have been made to make it easier for webmasters to have their web sites indexed more effectively. This article discusses efforts Google and Yahoo have made to augment current methods of discovering as many URLs of a web site as possible.
First there was Google Sitemaps
Earlier this summer Google announced their Google Sitemaps tool that allows web site owners to create an XML or plain text file listing all or some of the URLs of a web site for inclusion in the Google index. Up to 50,000 are allowed per document and if you're over that, you can create another site map file.
Google offers this tool as a compliment to what Googlebot, Google's search engine spider, can find on it's own by crawling the web. In cases where a site might have some difficulty getting indexed, providing a sitemap to Google may assist in getting missing pages into Google's search results.
Google does not charge for this beta service and it's pretty easy to do in three easy steps. However, as a beta, there are no guarantees. More information is available on Google Sitemaps at: https://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/
What about Yahoo?
Yahoo has offered a free web site submission form for quite a while where, as a registered user, you can submit one URL at a time. There is no guarantee of inclusion and no way to know if your site is accepted except to check the Yahoo search results for your web site.
For companies that want to provide a large number of URLs to Yahoo, the Yahoo Search Submit paid inclusion program offers the opportunity to have guaranteed inclusion in Yahoo's organic index. ( http://searchmarketing.yahoo.com/srchsb/ ) Search results display intermingled with URLs that are discovered naturally by Slurp, Yahoo's web crawler. There is a cost per URL for inclusion and also a cost per click based on the category of your business. Unlike sponsored listings, Yahoo claims there is no effect on ranking to use the Search Submit paid inclusion program, only the guarantee that your web site will be included in the Yahoo search engine index and that all URLs will be revisited every 48 hours.
You can also pay Yahoo $299 per year for your domain name to be included in the Yahoo Directory. With this option, there is no guarantee; even in you pay, that you will be accepted or that your suggested title, description and category will be used. Submissions that are accepted into the Yahoo Directory are also automatically submitted to the organic index. There is plenty of speculation in the SEO/SEM community about the value of a Yahoo Directory link, both pro and con.
And then there was Yahoo Sitemaps
A free, bulk URL submission option for Yahoo was first presented at the recent Search Engine Strategies conference in San Jose from Yahoo's Tim Mayer during a session on indexing. Previously, web sites were discovered for the organic search results by the Slurp web crawler or by submitting one URL at a time. Now Yahoo offers the option of submitting many URLs at once using Yahoo's free submission service at http://submit.search.yahoo.com/free/request.
Registration for a Yahoo account is required, but free.
Here's how it works: Create a list of all the URLs you want indexed in a text file and name it something like, urllist.txt (Yahoo's suggestion). You can also provide a compressed file and call it urllist.gz. Example: http://www.domainname.com/urllist.txt .
If you are providing a plain text list of URLs to Google Sitemaps, then you can use that same file for Yahoo.
Place the file in the main directory of your web site and submit the URL to the Yahoo free submission form at: http://submit.search.yahoo.com/free/request.
Some sites that pay for inclusion into the Yahoo index may gain that benefit from a natural submission, provided their URLs are crawlable. The tradeoff is, it's there is no guarantee of inclusion and if your site changes often, those changes will not be reflected in the search results until the site is update by the Yahoo web crawler. With Search Submit paid inclusion, your URLs will be updated every 48 hours.
It's important to note that inclusion is not search engine optimization. But it is important, because if none or only part of your site is included in a search engine's index, then you could be missing out on significant amounts of natural search traffic. Submitting a sitemap to Google and Yahoo has no known side effects and may give your site a boost in overall rankings since you'll have more pages available to search results.

Google Page Rank

There are many theories about page rank I am trying to give the best information about page ranks to help you to increase page rank of your web pages.
Google was the first search engine company to patent the system of taking into account inbound links, this algorithm was named as page rank. Page rank is estimated separately for each web pages and is determined by page rank- Citation, of other pages referring to it. Page rank is also regarded as the possible frequency of visits to a web page. The Page Rank of a specified web page is thus defined as the probability that a visitor or a user may visit the web page.
It is assumed that the user starts viewing the websites from some random web pages, then the visitor or user follows the links to other web resources. There is always a possibility that the user may leave a web site with out following any outbound links and start viewing documents from a random webpage. The page rank algorithm estimates the probability of this event as 0.15 at each step. The probability that our users or visitors continue surfing by following one of the links available on the current web page is therefore 0.85, assuming that all links are equal in this case. If the user or visitor continues surfing indefinitely, popular web pages will be visited many more times than the less popular web pages. The sum of probabilities for all existing web pages is exactly one because the user or visitor is assumed to be visiting at least one Internet Web page at any given moment.
We can see Google page rank number between zero and ten on the Google tool bar. We can determine the Page Rank value for any web page with the help of the Google Tool Bar that shows a Page Rank value with in the range from 0 to 10.
Usually now a days Page Rank is not used directly in the Google algorithm. Since pure Page Rank characterizes only the number and the quality of inbound links to a Web Site, it completely ignores the text of links and the information content of referring pages. These factors are important in page ranking and they are taken into account in later versions of the search engine algorithm.
Page Rank does not give exact information about referring web pages, but it allows us to quickly and easily get a feel for the web sites popularity level and to follow trends that may result from seo workSome times each web page on the Net even if there are no inbound links to it initially has a Page Rank greater than zero, although it will be very small There is a tiny chance that a user may accidentally navigate to it. Each web page that has outbound links distributes part of its Page Rank to the referenced page.
The Page Rank contributed to these linked to web pages is inversely proportional to the total number of links on the linked from web page. The more links the web page has, the lower the Page Rank allocated to each linked-to web page.
There is nothing difficult about the Page Rank influence, after the search engine finds a number of relevant documents using internal text criteria, they can be sorted according to the Page Rank since it would be logical to suppose that a document having a larger number of high-quality inbound links contains the most valuable information Thus, the Page Rank algorithm pushes up those documents that are most popular outside the search engine as well.
There are many discussions about page rank, some of the theories say that current Google ranking algorithm ranks Web pages according to thematic Page Rank it can be explained as, it emphasizes the importance of links from web pages with content related by similar topics or themes. The exact details of this algorithm are known only to Google developers.
It is explained as Google Tool Bar does not show the exact Page Rank probability value, but the Page Rank range a particular web site is in. Each range (from 0 to 10) is defined according to a logarithmic scale.
Example: Each web page has a real Page Rank value known only to Google. To derive a displayed Page Rank range for their Tool Bar, they use a logarithmic scale as shown in this table

Real PR 1 – 10 10 – 100 100 – 1000 1000 - 10,000
Tool Bar PR 1 2 3 4

This shows that the Page Rank ranges displayed on the Google Tool Bar are not all equal. For example It is easy, to increase Page Rank from 1 to 2, while it is difficult to increase it from six to seven.
Page Rank is mainly used for two purposes practically.
To check site popularity quickly.
Page rank is useful when exchanging links between web sites. We can compare the quality of the web page offered in the exchange with web pages from our own web site to decide if the exchange should be accepted. Page rank 4-5 is regarded as site with average popularity; Page rank 6 indicates a very popular web site. While page rank 7 is considered as almost unreachable for a regular webmaster. Web sites with Page rank 8, 9, 10 are normally achieved by the websites of larger companies like Microsoft, Google etc.
Evaluation of competitiveness level for a search query.
Although Page Rank is not used directly in the ranking algorithms, it allows us to indirectly evaluate relative websites competitiveness for a particular query. For example, if the search engine displays web sites with Page Rank 7-8 in the top search results, then it is difficult for a website with Page Rank 4 to get to the top of the results list using the same search query. It is important for every webmaster to recognize that the Page Rank values displayed on the Google Tool Bar are recalculated only occasionally every few months so the Google Tool Bar displaying page rank may be sometimes outdated information. This means that the Google search engine tracks changes in inbound links much faster than these changes are reflected on the Google Tool Bar.

Domain Name Suggestion

How to choose the right domain name?
Avoid domain names starting with 0 (zero) since it will send wrong signals to customers. For suppose if we start domain name with 0(zero) like www.0indiatemplesinfo.com it may give message as no temples information provided in this website. So unless we have good reason for keeping zero in domain name, we should avoid using domain names starting with the digit (0) zero. Don’t Use digit 0 in the domain name , unless it is going to be part of a recognizable word (like 100 or 200), This is because the digit 0 is often confused with the vowel O. incase If you feel that you must register a domain with the digit 0, make sure that you also register the corresponding domain containing the vowel O.

We can try naming domain names starting with Digit 1, because directories classify websites based on how good they are (or)
Based on chronological order (or) on reverse chronological order based on the dates the websites are submitted. The other form they classify websites is based on alphabetic order, so try domain names based o alphabetic order.

Yahoo which is the mother of all the directories lists web sites alphabetically based on the title that had been submitted. Yahoo wants the title to be the official name of the web site. This shows that websites starting with digit 1 will be placed near the top of the category.

Incase if we register domain name starting with digit 1(one) it is also good to register domain with the vowel “ i” and redirect visitors to the domain containing the digit 1. This is because people will often type vowel ‘ist’ instead of ‘1st’ (one) and vice-versa.

Create corresponding emails like info@1stindiatemplesinfo.com and info@istindiatemplesinfo.com. But don’t confuse customers by 2 domain names, this model will help only if we are new to business.

In case if we don’t like to start domain name with 1st? Consider starting domain name with alphabetical letter “A”,”B”,”C”. Even though domains starting with

“A, B, C” will be listed after 10 digits, we will still have pretty high alphabetical placements when we start with:”A, B, or C”.

It is good to register a domain name which contains a popular keyword applicable for industry it belongs. This will help the customers to remember the domain name far better. For searches made in Yahoo, a higher ranking will be given to those web sites which contain the keywords in the domain, (but this is not only the ranking factor).

If we have keyword in the domain name ,we will be able to include the keyword in the Title which will improve ranking especially with Yahoo , this can also help to increase the ranking of our web site in some other search engines.

In case if we have registered domain as temples2visit.com also it is good to register another domain names as templestovisit.com, try to avoid using domains names that contains ‘2’ instead of “to”, ’4’ for ‘for’ and ‘u’ for ‘you’

If yours is a serious business website try to register domain name as “.com". in case if .com is not available we can consider registering a ".net" domain, but since most people are familiar with ".com", it is better to stick to .com for easy recognition.

Don’t register domain name too long.

Your domain name should also be easy to spell and easy to remember.

Faqs in Seo

1 Explain the importance of domain name?
Ans: Domain name although the Age of Domain matters, search engines do not favor older and established sites with no recently updated content, it is better to have the content separated and have a different domain (preferably with the keywords in it) for different niches

2 From seo point of view, which is better - one big site or several smaller site?

Ans: If you have enough content in the same niche it is better to have it in one big site because first, this way the site is easier to maintain and the great number of pages is good for ranking high in search results. Many small sites allow to focus on specific niches, therefore compete for different keywords.

3 What are supplemental results?
Ans: Supplemental results are filtered by search engines in order not to spam users with similar pages that exist on one site or on several sites. that is why even though supplemental results are retrieved together with the main results, they are viewable only if you choose to look at them. (or) filtered results that are similar to the ones already shown.

4 What does “organic search results” mean?
Ans: It is the same as “natural search results”. This is the opposite to paid listings.

5 Google is gradually increasing the use of semantic analysis for determining search relevancy. Explain?
Ans: Semantic analysis uses not only keywords but synonyms as well in order to determine relevancy. If you have high keyword density (7-8% or more percent) but semantically the keywords measure very low (let's say, under 0.5%) you will not be listed in the top results. Although Google has been using semantic analysis as part of its algorithm for many years, it has recently began to increase its weight in the algorithm for calculating relevancy and by no means keywords have become obsolete. Actually, semantic analysis relies on synonyms and words related to the search string in order to determine the relevance for a particular page and since a keyword is a direct match of the search string, it can't be neglected. currently semantic analysis is still not the primary way of determining relevancy, so backlinks still are very important, lack of synonyms and related words generally suggests that the text is not written with humans in mind, but is aimed at search engines.

Static Website V/S Dynamic Website.

There are two types of URLs: Dynamic URLs and Static URLs.

When we search a database driven website a dynamic URL is displayed. Dynamic web page is basically only a template to display the result of the database query. Instead of changing information in the HTML code the data is changed in the database. Dynamic URL is generated from specific query to a site's database.

Search engines generally like to list the WebPages that are unique

In Static URLs the contents of the web page remains same unless there is change in html code. Static URLs help the end users to understand the web page easier, when a user sees a URL in a search engine query that matches title and description they click on the URL Than one that doesn’t make sense to them.

Static URLs are ranked better in search engine results pages, and they are indexed more quickly than dynamic URLs. Static URL doesn’t have a variable string, it looks like this.

When we use dynamic Urls there is a risk with search engines as they don’t like them. Dynamic websites like e-commerce stores, forums, and sites utilizing content management systems and blogs or any data base driven website have most risk of losing search engine positioning due to dynamic URLs

Urls generated for the content by a dynamic websites looks like this:

http://www.adsfreeads.com/index.php?method=showhtmllist&list=classifiedscategory&rollid=23&fromfromlist=classifiedscategory&fromfrommethod=showhtmllist&clearoff=1

http://www.adsfreeads.com/index.php?method=showhtmllist&list=classifiedscategory&rollid=3&fromfromlist=classifiedscategory&fromfrommethod=showhtmllist&clearoff=1

http://www.adsfreeads.com/index.php?method=showhtmllist&list=classifiedscategory&rollid=1&fromfromlist=classifiedscategory&fromfrommethod=showhtmllist&clearoff=1

For example, let's look at below 3 URLs:

All these three URLs point three different pages, but if the search engine purges the information after the first offending character, the question mark (?), now all the 3 web pages look the same:

http://www.interviewtipsquestions.com/interview_tips.html

http://www.interviewtipsquestions.com/seo.html

http://www.interviewtipsquestions.com/php.html

so in the above case as there are no unique pages the duplicate URLs wont be indexed.
Dynamic web pages generally do not have any keywords in the Url. It is very important to have keyword rich URLs. It is good to place highly relevant keywords in the domain names or on the url pages.
Study of top 10 websites in Google, yahoo and msn have reveled that the top 10 websites displayed in Google results has 40-50% of keywords either in the url or on the domain. Yahoo has 60% of keywords in url or in domain. Msn has 85% of keywords in the url or in the domain .

White Hat SEO

White Hat Search Engine Optimization"

There are ethical and unethical practices in search engine optimization, Ethical practices are called as white hat seo. The opposite of bat hat seo is called as white hat seo. White hat seo includes some of these activities like arranging content in a clear hierarchy so that important words and phrases are used as required .

Getting page views at any cost to your website is not a good tactic. It never works in the long run, even if it may work for a short while. Beware of any SEO company that recommends you employ any of these techniques.

Black Hat SEO

Black Hat SEO includes things like keyword stuffing. The terminology “Black Hat” in Black Hat SEO comes from the old cowboy western movies where all the bad guys wore black hats and all the good guys wore white hats. Cloaking is another black hat seo technique, Google will penalize sites that flagrantly buy and sell links. If you are buying or selling links: do it covertly & do it under the radar. Buying and selling links without the no follow tag is now officially a black hat SEO practice that is against Google’s Webmaster Guidelines.

Black hat SEO techniques usually include following characteristics:

breaking search engine rules and regulations
Unethically presenting content in a different visual or non-visual way to search engine spiders and search engine users.
Black hat SEO practices will actually provide short-term gains in terms of rankings, but if we are discovered utilizing these spammy Techniques on a Web site, we run the risk of being penalized by search engines.

Black Hat SEO Techniques To Avoid
Keyword stuffing
Invisible text
Doorway Pages
Website will be penalized by Search Engines if the web pages are stuffed / placed with long list of keywords and nothing content else. Web masters try to put list of keywords in black text on a black back ground., and white text in white background in order to attract more search engine spiders. When searchers search this page these keywords are not visible to them but search engines read this keywords which is considered as black hat seo technique.
A door way page is a fake page which a user will never see., this page is created purely for search engine spiders and the web masters attempt to index these pages higher.
Black Hat Seo Techniques work temporarily. It is better to stay away from anything that even looks like Black Hat SEO.

Example : BMW car maker from Germany have been kicked out of the Google index for spamming.

The reason for the ban of BMW website is likely to be that have been caught employing a technique used by black-hat search engine optimizers: doorway pages. (Doorway page is stuffed full of keywords that the WEB SITE feels a need to be optimized for; however, as opposed to real pages, this doorway is only displayed to the Googlebot. Human visitors will be immediately redirected to another page upon visit. )And that’s exactly what happened at BMW.de.
BMW almost immediately removed the pages after the news broke ,but it was too late . German BMW Web Site is now suffering with “Google death penalty”: a ban from almost any imaginable top search result, and a degrading of the Page Rank to the lowest possible value.

Penalty on BMW Website is a good example of what can happen to sites going against the Google webmaster guidelines – no matter how big or important one might deem the web site.
So always remember “If an SEO company creates deceptive or misleading content on your behalf, such as doorway pages or ’throwaway’ domains, your web site could be removed entirely from Google’s index.”

Google’s guidelines say webmasters should optimize for humans, not machines, because Google doesn’t like to be cheated. Many ethical SEOs provide useful services for website owners, from writing copy to giving advice on site architecture and helping to find relevant directories to which a web site can be submitted. But a few unethical SEOs have given the industry a black eye through their unfair practices like manipulating search engine results and doing aggressive marketing.

Link Building

Link Building | Incoming Links | Outgoing Links

There are three types of links which will increase link popularity for a website.
Internal links :

Incoming links :

Outgoing links :

Link popularity is defined as the number of links pointing to and from related websites and it is an extremely important method for improving sites relevancy in search engines.

Internal links :

Number of Links to and from pages within a site is called as internal link popularity. Search engine spiders find and index important related pages quicker if some pages are buried deep within the site when we do cross linking of important related pages

Link Building | Incoming Links | Outgoing Links

Incoming links are of 2 types.

(Links from sites we control)
(Links from sites we don’t control)
Links pointing to a website from other related sites is called incoming link popularity.
To find link popularity for a website or which sites are linking to our website or competitors website we need to go to Google search box and enter “link:” followed by domain name with out using “www”

For example:

Link: tipsoninterview.com

1. Links from sites we control
It is good to do cross linking of our web sites. Select keywords that describe the site we are linking to. The reason for doing this is because some of the major search engines, such as Google, place a great importance on the text used within, and close to, links.

2. Links from sites we don't control
There are two ways of finding sites to link to our website. The best way to get other sites to link to our website is to ask them politely. And the best way to find likely candidates is to ask web sites that link to your competition.

Once we have compiled a list of related sites, add a link of those website to our web site. Then send an email to each web site owner informing them that we have linked to their site and politely ask them for a link back to our site.

Another way of finding sites to link to our web site is to find web sites that accept site submissions. To find such web sites, visit a search engine, such as Google, and search for:

"add url" “keyword"

Include the quotation marks to ensure the search engine only return pages with the exact search phrases we enter. Also try replacing, "add url" with one of the following sets of search phrases:

add site +keyword
add link +keyword
Submit url +keyword

Site maps :

Site maps leads to links which leads to most or all pages of the website. Site maps are hierarchically organized. Site maps are visual models of web site content that allows users to find specific webpage. If more pages are available in a website it is recommended to have a site map, by using site map search engine spiders will crawl the links and index the entire website.

Keyword Placement- where to place keywords

1.Keywords in title tag :

As per HTML specifications it is not mandatory to write something in the title tag. In case if you leave title tag empty then the title bar of the browser will read as “Untitled Document” or similar, for SEO purposes it is good to use title tag.

The title tag must be short with in 6 to 7 words and the keyword must be near the beginning. Keyword in the title tag is one of the most important places because what is written inside the title tag shows in search results as your page title.
Search engines (including Google). Mostly display content of the title tag.

For example:

The title tag of the home page for the http://www.interviewtipsquestions.com can include something like this:

title interview tips – go through these useful interview tips to be successful in interview title,

title tips on interview - Everything You Need to Know regarding interview tips title>

2.Keywords in URL :
Keywords in URLs help a lot in getting better position in search engine result pages.
Eg:-http://xboardindya.blogspot.com

Where “webdesigning’” is the keyword phrase where we attempt to rank well. But if we don't have the keywords in other parts of the document, we don’t need to rely on having them in the URL.

The domain name and whole URL plays an important role IN SEO process. The presumption is that if our web site is about cows, you will have “cows”, “cow”, or “calf” as part of our domain name. For instance, if our web site is mainly about cow milk , it is much better to name your cow site “cow-milk.net” than “animal-milk.org”,

Because in the first case we have two major keywords in the URL, while in the second one we have no more than one potential minor keyword.

Don’t be greedy when hunting for keyword rich domain names. From search engine optimization point of view it is better to have 5 keywords in the URL.

But if we imagine the URL by using 5 potential keywords it will be long and difficult to memorize. So we need to balance keywords in the URL and the site usability. So it is advisable to use less than or equal to 3 keywords in the URL.

Directory names and file names are also important. Often search engines will give preference to pages that have a keyword in the file name.

For instance http://ourdomain.com/interview-tips.html is not as good as http://interviewtipsquestions.html but is certainly better than http://ourdomain.com/interview-guidence.html. The advantage of using keywords in file names over keywords in URLs is that they are easier to change, if you decide to move to another niche.

3.Keyword density in document text :
After we have chosen the keywords that describe our web site the next step is to make our web site keyword-rich and to have good keyword density for our target keywords. Keyword density is a common measure of how relevant a page is, the higher the keyword density, the more relevant to the search string a page is. Recommended keyword density is 3-7% for the major 2 or 3 keywords and 1-2% for minor keywords. We can check keyword density by Keyword Density Checker tools which are available freely.

If we make keyword stuffing there are severe penalties including ban from the search engine because this is considered an unethical practice that tries to manipulate search results.

4.Keyword stuffing :
Keyword density over 10% and above which are artificially inflated in a webpage is regarded as Keyword stuffing and there is a risk of getting banned from search engines.

5.Keywords in anchor text :
If you have keyword in the anchor text in a link from another web site, this is regarded as getting a vote not only from this web site but also from your site in general but about the keyword in particular. So it is good to have anchor text for inbound links.

6:Keywords in headings (H1, H2, etc tags) :
Keyword in header tags counts a lot. But before placing ensure that the web page has actual text about the particular keyword.

From literacy point of view headings separate paragraphs into related subtopics. From seo point of view it is good to have as many headings on a page as possible even though it may be pointless to have a heading after every paragraph, Especially if we have keywords in the headings.

Even though there is no technical length limits for the contents of h1, h2,h3,…. h5 tags.

We need to be wise with the length of headings; too long headings are bad for page readability. Another issue we need to consider is how the heading will be displayed. Heading 1 (h1), means larger font size in this case it is recommendable to have less than 7-8 words in the heading, otherwise it might spread on 2 or 3 lines, which is not good.

7.Keywords in the beginning of a document :
Placing keywords in the beginning of the document also counts, however, beginning of a document does not necessarily mean the first paragraph – for instance if we use tables, the first paragraph of text might be in the second half of the table.

8.Keywords in ALT TAGS :
Search engine Spiders don't read images but they read the textual descriptions in the alt tags, so if you have images on your page, fill in the alt tag with some keywords about them.

9.Keywords in metatags :
Placing keywords in metatags is important, especially for Google, Yahoo! and MSN as they rely on them, so if you are optimizing for Google, Yahoo or MSN, fill these tags properly. In any case, filling these tags properly will not do any harm so better to have metatags in the page.

10.Keyword proximity :
Keyword proximity measures how close the keywords are placed in the text. It is best if they are placed immediately one after the other (e.g. “puppy food”), with no other words between them. For instance, if you have “puppy” in the first paragraph and “food” in the third paragraph, this also counts but not as much as having the phrase “puppy food” without any other words in between. Keyword proximity is applicable for keyword phrases that consist of 2 or more words.

Keywords Terminology

1.Keyword Density :
Keyword density refers to the ratio or percentage of keywords contained within the total number of indexable words within a web page. It is important for your main keywords to have the correct keyword density to rank well in Search Engines. Keyword density ratio varies from search engine to search engine. The recommended keyword density ratio is 2 to 8 percent. Keywords quality is very important more than keyword quantity because if we have keywords in the page title, the headings, and in the first paragraphs this count more. The reason is that the URL (and especially the domain name), file names and directory names, the web page title, the headings for the separate sections are more important than ordinary text on the web page . we may have same keyword density as our competitors web site but if we have keywords in the URL, this will boost our website ranking incredibly, especially with Yahoo search.

2.Keyword Frequency:
Keyword frequency means the number of times a keyword phrase or keyword appears with in a webpage. The more times a keyword or keyword phrase appears within a web page, the more relevance a search engines are likely to give the page for a search with those keywords or key phrase.

3.Keyword Prominence :
Keyword prominence refers to how prominent keywords are within a web page. It is recommendation to place important keywords at the start or near of a web page, starting of a sentence, TITLE or META tag.

4.Keyword Proximity:
Keyword proximity refers to the closeness between two or more keywords. It is better to have keywords placed closer in a sentence.

Keyword proximity examples:

Example 1: How Keyword Density Affects Search Engine Rankings.

Example 2: How Keyword Density Affects Rankings In Search Engine.

In above example, if someone searched for "search engine rankings," a web page containing the first sentence is more likely to rank higher than the second.

The reason is because the keywords are placed closer together.

Levels of keywords

1.Low level keywords :
If the keyword competition (in Google) is <= 4 digits then it is considered as low level keyword. For low-level keyword we can optimize a website with in 3 months.

2.Medium level keywords :
If the keyword competition (in Google) is <= 7 digits it is considered as medium level keyword, For medium -level key words we can optimize our site with in 6 to 7 months.

3.High level keywords :
if keyword competition is above or equal to 8 digits it is considered as high level keyword .we can optimize these high level keyword in 1year.

keyword Analysis

Keywords for Search engine optimization :
Keyword is nothing but “on what we are searching for”.
Ex: - India temples, job opportunities, web development, Telugu movies, it solution, software training.
Key word should be “well define” and It must be a meaningful
Key Phrase: -Combination of 2 key words
Keywords are considered the most important in Search engine optimization. So it is necessary to see that the right keyword is optimized for your website. Choosing keywords seems easy at first but when you get into more detail, it might be a bit confusing to correctly determine the right keywords. But with a careful keyword research and thinking the problem of selecting the right keywords to optimize for a particular website can be solved.

Keywords are what search strings are matched against. when you start optimization, the first thing you need to consider is the keywords that describe the content of your web site best and that are most likely to be used by users to find you.

Choosing the right keyword is the first and crucial step to be successful in seo process, Before choosing keywords we need to see:

What the online population is searching for?

What are the keywords our competitors chosen?

What are the keywords that describe our website best?

If we fail in choosing the right keyword we will waste ours or our client’s money and time. after we have made a long and detailed list of all the important keywords that are searched by tens or thousands a day and If you have many competitors for that particular keywords we have chosen, chances are that it will be difficulty to overtake them and place our website among top ten results,

If we are not placed in the first page or on the second page or in the worst case on the third page of the organic search results, we will have very few visitors to visit our website. It is true that sometimes even web sites that are after the first 50 results get decent traffic from search engines but it is certain that you can't count on that.

We should not get discouraged if all lucrative keywords are already occupied; Low-volume search keywords can also be as lucrative as the high-volume ones and their main advantage is that you will have less competition with these keywords.

Some of the SEO experts confirm that with low volume search keywords it is possible with less effort and with in less budget we can achieve much better results than targeting for high-volume search keywords.

Before selecting a low volume or high volume search keyword we need to make an estimate about how difficult it would be to rank well for a particular keyword.

2.Choosing the Right Keywords to Optimize for search engines :
It is impossible to achieve constant top ratings for a one-word search string as the Web is densely populated with web sites; It will be a realistic goal when we achieve constant top ratings for two-word or three-word search strings.

we can include one-word strings in our keywords list but if they are not backed up by more expressions, it is waste of dreaming for high ratings.

For Example if we have a website about temples, “temple” is a mandatory keyword but we will be not successful if we do not optimize for more words, like “temples in India”, “temple visiting times”, “temple gods”.

we need to think broad when choosing the keywords, When we start optimization (seo), the first thing we need to consider is the keywords that describe the content of the web site best and likely to be used by users to find the website or service provided by the website. We should understand our users well and guess correctly what search strings they are likely to use to search our website. Synonyms can be taken into consideration.

For Example, in a dog site, “canine” is a synonym and it is for sure the users will use it, so it does not hurt to use it as a keyword in the content of the web pages.

But search engines have algorithms that include synonyms in the keyword match, especially in languages like English so do not rush to optimize for every synonym.

3.Website Keyword Suggestions Tools :
can help you to see how search engines determine the theme of a web site and what keywords fit into this theme. We can try Google’s Keyword Tool to get more suggestions about which keywords are hot to use.

Before choosing particular keyword or keywords or key phrase to optimize for Google or any search engine, we need to see relevancy of keyword to our web site and the expected monthly number of searches for this particular keyword or keywords or key phrase.

Some times narrow searches are more valuable because the users that come to our site are those that are really interested in our service or product. If we go on with the temples example, we might discover that the “festivals in India” key phrase also brings us more visitors because we have a special section on our web site where we give information or list of festivals in Andhra Pradesh. This page is not of interest for current visitors for temples but potentially attracting this niche can be better than attracting everybody who is interested in temples in general. So when we look at the number of search hits per month consider the unique hits that fit the theme of the website.

4.Effective Keyword Choice Strategy and Useful Tools :
The search engines will know the Web site theme while "crawling" the site pages; this is where the keyword power needs to be utilized. One correctly targeted keyword will produce a better overall search engine ranking than keywords just generally placed. The presence of that keyword placed strategically across the site is a factor in determining whether or not the web site is ranked high in a search on sites like GOOGLE, YAHOO and MSN. Many users will type broader search criteria into the search engines if they are uncertain of exactly what they seek. We should try to establish what keywords are most used in the context of the web site content and theme. Choosing keywords depend on the target audience's needs, and what keywords they will use to locate sites.

Keywords will be relevant words and parts of phrases that relate to the site content.

So what kinds of keywords should we use?

For example: if you have a site that focuses on mobile phones, When any person is not aware of model and service provider and if he is searching for information like what are the best mobile deals available at present?

Some keywords might be "mobile, mobile phone, phone tariffs, cellular," etc. If the user wants to find mobile phone sites that host budget phones, he or she may type the keywords mentioned above.

If it is a movie information site, keywords could be "movies, film, movie, films, horror movies, Horror, sci-fi, action, cinema"

This positioning and choice of keywords is crucial for a site towards SEO optimization.

5.Seeing in Overture which of the keywords that are related to our web site had most searches recently and optimize for those keywords is wrong because the fact that a particular keyword is often searched does not mean that this alone makes it a worthy target. If the competition for this highly desired keyword is tough, your efforts might be useless,

Common Mistakes in SEO

Search Engine Optimization is the practice of making website to be search friendly to search engines and for those who search business through search engines webmasters make following mistakes.

Over Optimization affects your website Ranking.

1.Incorrectly Designed Websites :
Lack of proper Navigation
Using frames to save web designers designing times
Large image sizes will cause more time to download pages. If it is necessary to use large images then consider using thumbnails and open it in separate page. (This helps in creating more pages and more text which help the spiders to crave)
Using high resolution graphics (Try to use low resolution graphics)

2.Poorly Written of content :
content absolutely must have targeted keywords and phrases. If content is written properly you can make more targeted keywords and appropriate phrases.

Absence of targeted keywords and phrases can break your site. If you have not used related keyword in your body text then your site will not come in listing when user type particular keywords related to your site.

More sure to use keywords placed in the meta keyword tag is logical to your content.

People visiting your site as a result of their search would leave as soon as they see the home page is it is irrelevant or don’t match to the keyword or phrase they are searching. Use some tools such as word tracker to find what people are actually typing in to the search engines to find goods and services similar to yours and should concentrate on ranking well for those terms.
3.Replica of Content :
Using more than one page with different name, but content in page are same then search engines will consider this as trick and this affect ranking never try to copy content from other websites.
4.Improper use of Meta Tags or site without Meta Tags :
Meta Tags are used to include keyword and description of tags. These Meta Tags help search engines for quick search. Meta tags also help websites to increase ranking in search engines meta tags have to be included in all pages of the website.

Improper Metatags or without Meta Tags can misguide search engines and lead to improper listing of websites absence of page title will harm ranking of the websites.
5.Absence of Sitemap for Websites :
Sitemaps assist web crawlers in indexing websites more efficiently and efficiently. Sitemap provides the structure of entire website in one page which is very useful for search engine Optimization. Generally site maps drive search engines to go directly to the page instead of searching the links.

Google sitemaps is an easy way to tell Google about all the pages on your site; which pages are most important to you, and when those pages change, for a smarter crawl and fresher search result.
6.Improper use of Meta Tags or site without Meta Tags :
Meta Tags are used to include keyword and description of tags. These Meta Tags help search engines for quick search. Meta tags also help websites to increase ranking in search engines meta tags have to be included in all pages of the website.

Improper Metatags or without Meta Tags can misguide search engines and lead to improper listing of websites absence of page title will harm ranking of the websites.

7.Page Cloaking :
In this method the web masters deceive search engines by altering the real page content with declared description. Normally spidering robots recognized by their IP addresses or host names are redirected to a page that is specially polished to meet search engines' requirements, but is unreadable to a human being. In order to detect cloakers, spiders often come from fake IP addresses and under fictitious names. Also, users' feedback is collected to see the relevancy of content with description, the page is also revised by search engine owners’ staff and if found any difference the sites are penalized.

Architecture Of search Engines

Spider - a browser-like program that downloads web pages.

Crawler – a program that automatically follows all of the links on each web page.
Indexer - a program that analyzes web pages downloaded by the spider and the crawler.

Database– storage for downloaded and processed pages.
Results engine – extracts search results from the database.

Web server – a server that is responsible for interaction between the user and other search engine components.

How do search engines work

All search engines consist of three main parts:

The Spider (or worm)
The Index
The Search Algorithm.

The spider (or worm), continuously ‘crawls’ web space, following links that leads either to different website or with in the limits of the website. The spider ‘reads’ all pages content and passes the data to the index.

The index is the next step of search engine after crawling. Index is a storage area for spidered web pages and is of a huge magnitude. Google index is said to consist of more than three billion pages.

For example Google’s index, is said to consist of more than three billion pages.

Search algorithm is more sophisticated and third step of a search engine system. Search algorithm is very complicated mechanism that sorts an immense database within a few seconds and produces the results list. The most relevant the search engine sees the webpage the nearer the top of the list. So site owners or webmasters should therefore see site’s relevancy to keywords.

Algorithm is unique for each and every search engine, and is a trade secret, kept hidden from the public.

Most of the modern web search combines the two systems to produce their results

History Of Search Engines

History :
Before HTTP protocol was invented the internet was just a huge network consisting of FTP servers, and internet is used as a means of file exchange. Before websites existed the first search engines ran via FTP and similar protocols. Internet acquired its actual shape only after Tim Burners-Lee had created HTTP protocol, we got the World Wide Web, and the Internet acquired its actual shape.

Search Engines Today :
Modern web searchers are divided into two main groups:

Search engines.
Directories.

Search Engines automatically 'crawl' web pages by following hyperlinks and store copies of them in an index, so that they can generate a list of resources according to user’s requests.
Directories are compiled according to categories by humans who are site owners or directory editors.

The top-13 search engines listed Below cover about 90 percent of all online searches performed on the Internet. Those search engines are:

www.Google.com
www.Yahoo.com
www.MSN Search.com
www.AOL Search.com
www.AltaVista.com
www.Lycos.com
www.Netscape.com
www.HotBot.com

www.AllTheWeb.com

Search Engine Optimizer

In early days internet users were very less and amount of available information was relatively very small. Accessing of internet resource was restricted to very few employees and used to access scientific information. In previous days finding information on internet was not critical as it is now. Site directories are the first method used to access information on the internet. Links to these resources are grouped by topics. But now a days such link Directories have lost much of their popularity. The reason is for example modern web directories with lots of web resources only provide information on a tiny fraction of the internet. The largest directory on the internet is currently DMOZ (OPEN DIRECTORY PROJECT). It contains information of about 5 million Resources, if we compare this database with Google search engine database it is very minimum or less as Google has more than 8 billion documents.
Currently, there are three major leading international search engines – Google, Yahoo and MSN Search. These 3 search engines maintain their own database and search algorithms. Many other search engines use these three major search engines for originating search results and the same seo expertise can be applied to all of them.
For example, Search engine like AOL (search.aol.com) uses the Google database while LYCOS, ALTAVISTA, ALLTHEWEB use the Yahoo database Specific implementations of search mechanisms may differ.
For example,
The Spider+Crawler+Indexer component groups are implemented as a single program that downloads web pages analyzes the web pages and then uses their links to find new resources. How ever the above combinations are inherent to all search engines and the principles of seo are the same. However, the components listed are inherent to all search engines and the seo principles are the same.

When to submit?

When to submit?

Its best to start submitting the website address to the relevant search engines and directories as soon the website is ready.

If the website is still under construction, many of the search engines and especially the directories will not index the website.

When does the Search Engine list the website?

As soon as you submit to search engines and directories through the 'add a site' or suggest an URL' facility, they give you a message that it has received your submission and it may be indexed in due course of time. The time duration varies from search engine to search engine. Some do it online as soon as you submit and some others might take upto 12 weeks to index the web site.
The rough time periods are as follows:
Immediate: Mastersite, Arelis,
1-4 weeks: Altavista, Infoseek, All the web
4-8 weeks: Hotbot, Inktomi, Lycos, MSN Search. Webcrawler
4-12 weeks: Google, Yahoo, Open Directory

When do I need to repeat the submission?

Repeated submission is really to ensure that your website has a better chance of getting listed. There are chances that it might get missed the first few times you submit. Also, when your website is new, one does make more changes in it in the beginning/initial stages then later on. So it's a good idea to repeat submissions (like once in a month) so that these changes are reflected in the search engine listing.
But doing it too often can be seen as a spam by the search engines and they might rmove your site as well as debarr the site from being listed.

DreamSubmit Pro 4.0 takes care of this repeating manual submission twice and epeating the auto submission once a month for a whole year.

When does one submit updates?

Its a good idea to resubmit the website address when you update or change a lot of information on the website. Its not necessary to keep re-submitting for small changes that are done to the website. Some of the search engines give weightage for updates to the contents of the website.

How Search Engines work?

How Search Engines work?

Search Engines use automated software programmes (called spiders or robots) that crawl the web looking for webpages and related information.

These spiders find and classify websites and keep references to these indexed in its search engine databases.

And when you search for information using a search engine, it will look through its database and display all the matching ones.

How Serach Engines find information on the web?

The spiders while crawling the web look for links within websites. It goes from one link to another visiting several/many websites on and on. From each of these sites, it collects or updates the information relevant to the website. The crawlers will locate your website soon or later, but one can never say when.

Alternatly, the presence of a new website can be told to the crawler by submitting details of the website to the search engine. Once submitted to a search engine, its crawler will visit your site and collect the necessary information.

How Search Engines store all the information?

The information that is relevant to accessing a website is classified and indexed in a database. This is constantly updated to include information on new sites, to take care of changes in existing websites and to remove from its list dead websites.

How Search Engines respond to search request?

The Search Engines have a software programme that can sort through information on millions of websites that it has indexed in its database, find the matching ones and display it in a sequence such that the most relevant ones appear in the beginning. All this in a flash.

How different Search Engines give different results?

Search Engines differ in the way they collect, store and display information. The number of websites indexed in its database can also vary. In addition, the search engines have different criteria for sequencing/ranking the websites. All these add on to give different results on different search engines.

How to submit to Search Engines?

One needs to submit the details of your website as required by the search engine through its 'add a site or suggest a site' facility. Usually for submitting a website to search engines, one needs to just give the website address. The crawler does the rest by visting your website and collecting all the relevant information it needs for listing and ranking.

How many pages of the website to submit?

Usually one does not need to submit all the pages of the website. The crawlers of search engines usually locate inside pages through links. And directories normally do not list individual pages of the website. However, if yours is website that has sections or sub-sections in it that are important and unique, then its best to submit these individually/seperately.

How Search Engines sequence/rank websites?

Factors: Frequency, Location, Number of Links, Meta Tags

When the search engine presents its results, the most relevant one are displayed in the beginning of the list. The search engine determines this by looking for keywords that repeat themselves within the web document. The assumption being the frequency of the keyword determines its importance/relation to the topic of the website.

They also see if these keyword appear in the title of the web page and in the beginning of the body text. The assumption being that the keywords located in these important/prominant places would be more relevant to the subject of the website. Some search engines give importance to the number of links on a given page or to the number of links that are pointing towards it. The assumption again being - more the number of links the more comprehensive and important the website is.

Few search engines pick up information provided as keywords and description from the metatags on your website. This is off course verified for its use in the inside contents of your website.

How to make the website Search Engine sauvy/friendly?

Internet users use a word or a phrase as keywords to search for information on the web. This means that you need to identify the most important words and phrases associated with identifying/locating a website like yours. Once a list is made, it is essential that these are integrated in the title, listed as keywords in the metatags, included in the description and comes as part the initial body text of the website. And then just hope the search engines will be able to pick up these as the proper keywords connected with locating and ranking your website.

How to submit to Directories?

One needs to submit the details of your website as required by the directory through its 'add a site or suggest a site' facility. Usually in a directory, one needs to first locate the relevant category suitable for the subject of your website and submit the details of your site under this category. After submission, the details of your website will remain in queue untill it is reviewed by an editor. Just hope the editor likes your website and feels that it is important. Usually a site with good content, design and purpose will find its way into getting reviewed and listed in directories. But there is no way to ensure a listing. The only choice is to submit again after a period of time. If you can make improvements, it will help for sure.

And in addition to keyword search, information can be located in a directory by going through subject categories to its sub categories that follow a branchlike structure.
